Covergirl Bombshell Mascara

This was another product I received in my influenster voxbox this past month. I am a big fan of CoverGirl mascaras and I never tried this out until now. CoverGirl usually makes pretty great drugstore mascaras. I tend to gravitate towards drugstore mascaras because it is not in my budget to spend on expensive mascara. I feel a lot of drugstores can compare to the higher end mascaras. In fact, most of the time I prefer the cheaper versions to the higher-end products.

The Bombshell mascara comes in a giant tube. The mascara is pretty large, which is okay by me as long as I can maneuver the wand to get up close and personal with my lashes. There are two steps and both are clearly labelled. Step 1 involves a curved wand, and Step 2 is a straight wand. Step 1 is for Volume + Curl and Step 2 is to intensify. The wand itself is fairly thick, and there doesn't seem to be a difference in formula (at least not one that is visible). Luckily Step 1 doesn't involve a white primer, which I am not a big fan of in mascaras.

Summary and Verdict

I don't always curl my lashes. In fact, I rarely do, because the contraption scares me a bit. My thoughts about the product are with uncurled lashes.

This was an okay mascara. I'm not enthralled with it and I don't hate it. It's in neutral territory for me.

Cons:When you use the wand, you have to hold the entire mascara bottle in your hand as the 'wand.' The wand is so thick that it gets uncomfortable to hold.

Pros: The formula is decent (just decent) and it gave me fairly long, volumized lashes. The mascara is very resilient and stays on without smudging or straying.

Would I purchase it myself? Well, considering I already use CoverGirl mascaras, purchasing this product myself isn't a far-fetched concept. I would happily and most likely purchase this product myself if it were the cheapest option out of all the CoverGirl mascaras. I didn't notice too much of a difference between this and the CoverGirl mascara that I already use (well, maybe perhaps a bit more volume).

Score: 3.3/5

    1. I worked for me and gave me a little volume and length, but it was just an okay mascara. I've tried better ones. I love the brand though and really wanted to love this. Unfortunately, I wasn't blown away. No bombshelling here.

  3. I have never used this one before even though I really do swear by drug store brands (Maybelline's a fave)...good to know it wasn't all that great. I'll await the one that blows you away! ;D

    1. I've read a few good/bad reviews on it too. I wouldn't necessarily pass. I think it is still a good deal if it is priced a the same price point as the others. Just don't expect too much if you do purchase it.

  6. It looks nice, especially the fact that it doesn´t smudge, but I´d need volume and lenght at the same time. :)

    1. It's good that it doesn't smudge. It kind of does what it claims, but it's really not blown away. With a name like Bombshell...you kind of expect to be blown away by it.

    1. Try it and see how you like it. Everyone seems to feel differently about products most of the time.

  9. This mascara seems to be great, but after reading your review I think that isn't as amazing as I thought, but maybe it's maybe because of volume :)

  11. I don't do well with mascara's often end up looking like a panda because I forget I have it on and rub my eyes. This sounds like a good mascara if you want the choice between just adding colour and adding curl. Not sure I would like having to hold the whole bottle either Lucy x

    1. Having to hold the whole thing is a design fail for sure. The mascara in itself is okay. It is something I would purchase, but not spend too much money on. It didn't really live up to the hype though.

  15. This looks like an interesting product. I don't think I've ever liked mascaras with two wands though.

    1. I know. They always have that weird white primer with it. Luckily this doesn't have that at least.
