Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Care
Instead of one post this week, I will be doing two short product reviews on a couple items I have received from Influenster. The next post will be sometime soon. The first is this Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun lotion. It is a gel formulation and came in the scent coconut papaya. Right off the bat, the smell is what peaked my interest. I love the hint of coconut in this lotion. I think the coconut is the stronger scent in this product since I can barely smell any papaya. Actually, I haven't had papaya in awhile, so I'm not absolutely certain what it should smell like now.

The formulation is creamy sort of gel. It is actually nice, but a bit different from what I am used to in terms of a true gel. This product is much more creamy and reminds me of a more traditional lotion than of any kind of gel (which makes sense since this is a gel/lotion mixture). It absorbs readily and doesn't leave a tacky feeling that is common in a lot of drugstore lotions. I love my body lotions to rub in and leave my skin feeling soft and moisturized, but never sticky to the touch. Luckily, because of the formulation, this seems to absorb completely.
The after sun care portion of this body lotion comes into play with the aloe vera gel contained in the lotion. I cannot really speak for its soothing capabilities. I suppose my skin would have to be inflamed in order to really notice if there is any soothing characteristics about this lotion. Speaking generally about aloe, it does tend to have the soothing properties.
Overall, I am pleasantly surprised about this body lotion. If you spend a lot of time out in the sun, this is a great product for you to have. The aloe does set it apart from your traditional lotion, and can be beneficial for your skin if you spent some time sun bathing, or just soaking up the rays on a long walk.
Now the ultimate question-will I purchase it myself? Maybe. The product is around $7.19 at Target, so it pretty cheap. The question really is if I need an after sun care lotion, and the answer is that I really don't. I would consider this just as a regular lotion. However, I can see the appeal of a soothing lotion after a long day outside. If you spend a great deal of time outdoors and want to unwind after the day, this would be a great product for you.
